This is a Genuine Holset HX35 Turbo Rebuild Kit for HX35 and HX40 Turbos. This turbo rebuild kit fits:
- 1999 - 2002 Dodge Ram Cummins with Manual transmission HX35 turbo (54mm x 78mm 7 blade compressor wheel + 60mm x 70mm turbine + turbine housing mounts to bearing housing with 4 bolts and clamps, has 6” bearing housing.
- 1996 - 1998 Dodge Ram Cummins HX35 is turbo (56mm x 83mm 8 blade compressor wheel + 60mm x 70mm turbine .)
- HX40 (59.96 x 86 7 blade compressor + 64mm x 76mm 10 or 12 blade turbine)
- HX40 (57.8mm x 83mm compressor + 64mm x 76mm 10 or 12 blade turbine)
- HX40 (56 x 86 6 blade compressor wheel + 64mm x 76mm 10 or 12 blade turbine)
- 8.3 Cummins had H1E or HX40 turbos, this kit fits the HX40 turbo but the H1E turbo rebuild kit is different, click here to buy our H1E rebuild kit.
This kit includes:
- Machined from Copper Bar Upgraded Thrust Bearing with larger oil feed holes which is critical for longevity
- 2 Journal Bearings with oil grooves in center for increased oiling and durability
- 4 retaining clip journal bearings
- 1 Thrust Collar
- 1 Thrust Spacer
- 2 staggered front and rear piston ring seals for better sealing from oil leaks
- Front Seal Plate
- Oil Deflector
- Oil Feed Gasket
- Oil Return Gasket
- 1 Rubber O-ring for Front Seal Plate
- 1 Rubber O-ring for Compressor Housing (you may need to machine your bearing housing for this install unless yours is already done)
- 1 Rear Heat Shield
- 4 Turbine Housing Bolts
- 2 Turbine Housing Clamps
NOTE: This is NOT for VGT Turbos such as HE341VE HE351VE and HY40V
The problem with most aftermarket holset rebuild kits is: the feed holes in the thrust bearings are not drilled big enough causing lack of oiling to the thrust bearing which causes failure over time. The thrust bearing from other sellers is often made from softer materials which will cause thrust bearing failures at high boost levels.
3 major advantages to our rebuild kit is:
(1) our machined from copper bar thrust bearing has large high flowing oil feed holes for increased oiling lubrication and cooling which increases durability which is critical for high boost applications.
(2) Our rebuild kit has staggered front and rear piston rings Which provide better sealing than the factory piston ring seals because it eliminates the gap of the piston rings creating a 360 degree seal.
(3) Our journal bearings has grooves in them increasing the oiling all the way around the journal bearing for added cooling and lubricant which provides additional durability which is importantl for applications with increased boost levels.
The difference in our kit and other sellers is that we use our rebuild kits in our own performance turbo builds!
